EURASIAN BROWN BEAR

The Carpathian Mountains are a stronghold for Eurasian brown bears. You can see them in Bulgaria, Slovakia and Ukraine, but Romania’s Kingstone Mountain National Park, near Zarnesti, promises some of the best sightings. In Finland’s ancient taiga forest, you stand an excellent chance of seeing bears and other wildlife using specially designed hides and making the most of up to 20 hours of Nordic summer daylight (June to August). Although rare and elusive, brown bears can also be seen in remote mountainous regions of France, Italy and Spain.
